21 Days Until Meteorological Summer Ends in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has 21 days left until meteorological summer ends on August 31, 2026. Hot weather may continue into autumn.
Saudi Arabia has 21 days remaining until the end of meteorological summer, with the season officially concluding on August 31, 2026.
Meteorological seasons divide the year into four three-month periods. In the Northern Hemisphere, meteorological summer runs from June 1 through August 31, followed by meteorological autumn from September 1. The Saudi National Center for Meteorology (NCM) also classifies the Kingdom’s summer months as June, July and August.
However, the end of meteorological summer does not necessarily mean an immediate end to hot weather in Saudi Arabia.
The NCM’s outlook for summer 2026 indicated above-normal average surface temperatures across all regions of the Kingdom. For July and August, temperatures in some areas were forecast to average around 1.6°C above normal.
Saudi Arabia’s climate also varies considerably by region. According to the NCM, typical summer maximum temperatures across the Kingdom range from around 35°C to 45°C, while conditions are generally more moderate in parts of the southwestern highlands.
Meteorological seasons should not be confused with astronomical seasons, which are determined by the Earth’s position relative to the Sun.
In Saudi Arabia, astronomical summer in 2026 began with the June solstice on June 21 and will end with the September equinox at approximately 3:05 a.m. Saudi time on September 23.
This means that while meteorological summer has only 21 days remaining as of August 10, astronomical summer will continue for a few more weeks.
And even after both definitions of summer have ended, hot conditions can persist. The NCM has indicated that above-normal temperatures may continue into autumn 2026, meaning the change of season should not be interpreted as an immediate return to cooler weather.
