Saudi Arabia Raises BNPL Limit to SAR 10,000 — But Not Everyone Will Get It

Saudi Arabia has raised the maximum BNPL financing limit to SAR 10,000, but not every customer will qualify for the full amount.

Saudi Arabia has raised the maximum financing limit for Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) transactions to SAR 10,000, giving consumers more flexibility when paying for higher-value purchases in installments.

The higher ceiling was introduced by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) under a circular issued on December 24, 2025, and represents another step in the development of the Kingdom’s rapidly growing BNPL market.

But there is an important catch: the SAR 10,000 limit does not mean every BNPL customer will automatically be able to spend that amount. Related Article: How to Check your Credit Score in Saudi Arabia

Your Actual BNPL Limit May Be Lower

The SAR 10,000 figure is the maximum financing ceiling permitted under the rules. Individual customers may receive considerably lower limits.

The amount available to a customer will continue to depend on factors such as creditworthiness and repayment capacity, in line with responsible financing principles.

BNPL providers can use their own assessment systems as well as external credit-scoring information and data analytics to determine how much financing should be made available to an individual customer.

This means two customers using the same BNPL provider could potentially receive different spending limits.

What Does the Higher SAR 10,000 Limit Mean?

BNPL services allow consumers to purchase goods or services immediately and repay the amount later through predetermined installments without financing costs under the BNPL model.

Previously, lower financing limits meant these services were more heavily concentrated on relatively small consumer purchases.

With the ceiling now reaching SAR 10,000, BNPL could increasingly be used for more expensive purchases, including electronics, furniture and other higher-value goods and services.

However, whether a customer can finance a purchase of SAR 10,000 will ultimately depend on the limit approved by their BNPL provider.

BNPL Providers May Carry Out More Credit Checks

The higher ceiling also puts greater importance on assessing whether customers can comfortably repay their installments.

BNPL companies are expected to increasingly rely on credit assessment, data analytics and artificial intelligence to evaluate customers and determine appropriate financing limits.

Therefore, customers should not consider the new SAR 10,000 ceiling as a guaranteed credit line.

Saudi Arabia’s BNPL Market Continues to Grow

BNPL has developed rapidly in Saudi Arabia over the past several years.

The sector entered SAMA’s regulatory sandbox in 2020, followed by regulation of BNPL activity in 2021 and the issuance of rules governing BNPL companies in 2023.

According to estimates cited by Argaam from Mordor Intelligence, Saudi Arabia’s BNPL market was valued at approximately $4.96 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach around $5.29 billion in 2026.

The higher financing ceiling could further expand the types and value of purchases made through BNPL services.

For consumers, however, the most important point is simple: SAR 10,000 is the maximum permitted BNPL financing limit, not an amount automatically available to everyone. Your actual limit will depend on the provider’s assessment of your creditworthiness and ability to repay.
