Jawazat Arrests Resident for Transporting Two Border Violators
Saudi Jawazat arrested a resident for transporting two border security violators, warning of penalties of up to 15 years in prison and SAR 1 million in fines.
Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has arrested a Pakistani resident for transporting two border security violators in the Eastern Province.
According to Jawazat, the resident was caught transporting two individuals of the same nationality in a vehicle he was driving through the King Fahd Causeway border crossing.
The three individuals were detained and legal procedures were taken against them.
The two border security violators were referred to the competent authority, while the resident accused of transporting them was referred to the Public Prosecution.
Jawazat warned that anyone who facilitates the entry of border security violators into Saudi Arabia, transports them within the Kingdom, provides them with shelter, or offers them any form of assistance could face severe penalties.
Such violations are punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR 1 million.
Authorities may also confiscate the vehicle used to transport the violators and the property used to provide them with shelter. The offender may also be publicly named as part of the penalties.
Jawazat said such offenses are considered serious crimes warranting arrest and are regarded as crimes involving dishonesty and breach of trust.
The authority urged the public to report violators of Saudi Arabia’s residency, labor and border security regulations by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 999 in other regions of the Kingdom.
Jawazat added that all reports will be handled with complete confidentiality and that those reporting violations will not bear any responsibility.
