Saudi Arabia Executes Citizen Convicted of Killing His Mother
Saudi Arabia carried out the death sentence against a citizen convicted of shooting and killing his mother in the Eastern Province.
Saudi Arabia has carried out the death sentence against a Saudi citizen convicted of killing his mother in the Eastern Province, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The sentence against Nasser bin Eid bin Awwad Al-Mudhaibri was carried out on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
According to the ministry, Al-Mudhaibri killed his mother, Fatma bint Salah bin Ghuwaynim Al-Mudhaibri, by shooting her, resulting in her death.
Security authorities arrested him following the crime. An investigation led to charges being filed against him, and the case was referred to the competent court.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to death as a discretionary punishment (ta’zir), citing the seriousness of the crime and the fact that the victim was his mother.
The judgment became final after the appeal process and its confirmation by the Supreme Court. A royal order was then issued to carry out the sentence.
The Ministry of Interior said the Saudi government remains committed to maintaining security, achieving justice and enforcing the provisions of Islamic Sharia against those who attack others and violate their right to life and safety.
In a separate case on the same day, Saudi authorities also carried out a death sentence against Sami bin Jabir bin Mutib Harisi, a Saudi citizen, in Jazan Province.
The ministry said he had been convicted of participating in the sale and distribution of cannabis for a second time. His sentence was also upheld following appeal and confirmation by the Supreme Court before a royal order was issued for its implementation.
The ministry said Saudi Arabia would continue imposing severe penalties against drug traffickers and dealers, citing the serious harm drugs cause to individuals and society.
