Saudi Arabia Executes 4 Expats in Murder and Drug Smuggling Cases

Saudi Arabia executed four expats in separate murder and drug smuggling cases in Makkah and Asir.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced the execution of four expatriates on Sunday, September 13, in separate murder and drug smuggling cases.

In the Makkah region, authorities carried out a qisas (retributive) death sentence against a Myanmar national convicted of killing a Pakistani national.

According to the ministry, the victim was stabbed several times with a sharp object, resulting in his death.

Security authorities arrested the offender, and the case was referred to the competent court following an investigation. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to death under qisas.

The ruling became final after the appeals process and confirmation by the Supreme Court. A royal order was then issued to enforce the sentence, which was carried out in the Makkah region.

In a separate case, three Ethiopian nationals were executed in the Asir region after being convicted of jointly smuggling hashish into Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Interior said the three were arrested and charged following an investigation. The competent court found them guilty and sentenced them to death under ta’zir.

Their sentences became final after appeal and confirmation by the Supreme Court, followed by a royal order authorizing their enforcement.

The ministry reiterated that Saudi Arabia will continue to enforce strict penalties against those involved in drug smuggling and trafficking, citing the serious harm caused by narcotics to individuals and society.

It also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining security, protecting citizens and residents, and enforcing judicial rulings against serious crimes.
