Final Exit Visa Rules: What Happens If You Overstay in Saudi Arabia?

Learn the latest Saudi Final Exit Visa rules, validity period, SAR 1,000 overstay fine, and what expatriates should do before leaving the Kingdom.

A Final Exit Visa is the official permit that ends an expatriate’s residency in Saudi Arabia and allows them to leave the Kingdom permanently after completing all required procedures. Once the visa is issued, residents must depart within its validity period.

Final Exit Visa is generally valid for 60 days from the date of issuance. However, if the Iqama has between 30 and 60 days of validity remaining, the Final Exit Visa will only be valid until the Iqama expires. If the Iqama has less than 30 days remaining, it must be renewed before a Final Exit Visa can be issued.

It is important to note that once a Final Exit Visa has been issued, residents are expected to leave Saudi Arabia before the visa expires. Missing the departure deadline may result in penalties under Saudi regulations.

If a resident does not leave Saudi Arabia before their Final Exit Visa expires, Jawazat imposes a SAR 1,000 fine to cancel the expired visa.

If the visa expires and the resident has not departed, the employer may cancel the expired Final Exit Visa after paying the applicable fine, provided the worker’s Iqama is still valid. This allows a new Final Exit Visa to be issued if necessary.

Residents are advised not to wait until the last few days before travelling. Booking flights in advance and completing all departure formalities early can help avoid unexpected delays that could result in the visa expiring before departure.

Expats planning to leave Saudi Arabia should always check the validity of their Final Exit Visa through the official platforms and ensure they depart before the visa expires to avoid penalties and additional administrative procedures.
