Engineer Salary in Saudi Arabia 2026: How Much Do Engineers Earn?

Engineer salaries in Saudi Arabia range from around SAR 6,000 to SAR 30,000+, depending on experience, specialization and employer.

Engineering salaries in Saudi Arabia vary considerably depending on the field, experience, employer and type of project.

For many engineering jobs, salaries fall around SAR 6,000 to SAR 12,000 per month. However, experienced engineers working for major companies, oil and gas projects, consultancies and large infrastructure projects can earn SAR 15,000 to SAR 30,000 or more per month.

Senior specialists, engineering managers and professionals working on major projects can earn considerably higher salaries.

Average Engineer Salary in Saudi Arabia

There is no single average salary that accurately represents all engineers in Saudi Arabia.

Salary platforms report considerably different figures depending on their data and methodology. This is because a site engineer working for a small contractor and a senior engineer working for a major energy company may have very different salaries despite both being classified as engineers.

As a general indication, SAR 7,000 to SAR 12,000 per month is a reasonable range for many regular engineering positions in Saudi Arabia.

Experienced Engineers Can Earn Much More

The figures above should not be considered a salary ceiling.

Salaries can be significantly higher for experienced engineers working with major companies, engineering consultancies, oil and gas companies and Saudi Arabia’s large infrastructure and giga-projects.

For example, Saudi engineering salary benchmarks show some mid-career engineering positions reaching around SAR 15,000 to SAR 30,000+ per month.

Senior engineers, discipline leads, engineering managers and highly specialized professionals can earn SAR 30,000 or more, while some high-level positions may offer substantially higher compensation.

Oil and gas is particularly notable. Current 2026 industry estimates put experienced oil and gas engineers around SAR 12,000–22,000, with senior and lead positions around SAR 18,000–35,000+ depending on specialization and employer.

Basic Salary vs Total Package

When comparing engineering job offers in Saudi Arabia, check whether the amount offered is the basic salary or an all-inclusive package.

Employment packages may include housing and transportation allowances, medical insurance, annual flight tickets, bonuses and other benefits.

For example, an engineer receiving a SAR 8,000 basic salary plus housing and transportation allowances could have a better overall package than someone receiving SAR 10,000 as an all-inclusive salary.

Saudi Engineers and the SAR 8,000 Salary

Saudi Arabia increased the Saudization requirement for covered engineering professions to 30% from June 30, 2026.

Under the localization rules, the salary of a Saudi engineer must generally be at least SAR 8,000 per month to be counted toward the required Saudization percentage.

This does not mean every engineer in Saudi Arabia has a legal minimum salary of SAR 8,000. The threshold relates to counting Saudi employees under the engineering localization requirements.

How Much Can an Engineer Earn in Saudi Arabia?

For many engineering positions in Saudi Arabia, SAR 6,000–12,000 per month is a realistic general range.

With experience and specialization, salaries can rise to SAR 15,000–30,000 or more, particularly in oil and gas, major infrastructure projects, international consultancies and other specialized positions.

When evaluating an engineering job offer, consider the employer, position, experience requirements and the complete compensation package rather than comparing the basic salary alone.

Note: This guide covers traditional engineering professions such as civil, mechanical, electrical and project engineering. Software and IT engineering roles are not included.
