Saudi Riyal Exchange Rates Today

Check today's live SAR exchange rates and convert Saudi riyals into INR, PKR, BDT, PHP, EGP and more. Every figure is a mid-market reference rate, quoted in both directions so you always know what the number means.

How Saudi riyal exchange rates are produced

The Saudi riyal has been pegged to the US dollar at 3.75 SAR per USD since 1986, so the dollar pair barely moves. Every other pair on this page is built on top of that peg: the rate service quotes how many units of a currency one riyal buys, using interbank reference prices collected while the global market is open.

This page fetches that table in your browser the moment it loads and keeps the last successful result on your own device. If a refresh fails you still see the previous figure with the exact time it was retrieved, never a number invented to fill the space.

Reading the rate in both directions

The main column is quoted as 1 SAR = X, which answers how much foreign currency a single riyal buys. That is the figure you want before sending money out of the Kingdom. The second column flips it and shows what one unit of that currency is worth in riyals, which is the figure you want when you are paid in rupees, pesos or taka and need its local value.

Currencies that print very large numbers, such as the Indonesian rupiah or Iranian rial, simply trade in much smaller units. For a like-for-like comparison, look at the column that converts one unit back into SAR.

Fees, spread and timing

These are reference rates, not a quote. Banks, exchange houses and transfer apps set their own customer rate by adding a margin to the reference, and many also charge a transfer fee, so the amount that finally lands with your family will normally be a little below the figure shown here.

Rates drift through the trading week and do not move at all over the weekend. Check the updated timestamp above the results, and compare the final payout from at least two providers before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Saudi riyal pegged to the US dollar?
Yes. The riyal has been fixed at 3.75 SAR per US dollar since 1986. That is why SAR to USD barely changes while pairs such as SAR to INR or SAR to PHP move whenever the dollar itself moves.
Which rate should I use when I send money home?
Use the reference rate as a benchmark, then compare the final amount your recipient will actually receive. Providers add a margin into the rate and often a transfer fee on top, so the option with the lowest headline fee is not always the cheapest overall.
Are these the rates my bank will give me?
No. The figures shown are mid-market reference rates. Your bank or exchange house quotes its own customer rate, which sits slightly on either side of the reference depending on whether you are buying or selling the currency.
How often do the exchange rates update?
The table is fetched when the page opens and you can pull a fresh one at any time with the refresh button. The live chip above the results always shows when the figure currently on screen was retrieved.
Why is one riyal worth so many rupees or rupiah?
Because those currencies are denominated in much smaller units. The reverse column is the fair comparison: it shows what a single rupee, peso or taka is worth in Saudi riyals.
What happens if the rate service cannot be reached?
The page falls back to the last table it successfully stored on your device and labels it as cached with its original timestamp. If nothing was ever stored, it reports that the rate is unavailable and offers a retry rather than showing a made-up number.
